Kim and Dexter’s fabulous Skyline Country Club Wedding // Tucson Wedding Photography

I was honored to attend and photograph Kim and Dexter’s wedding this fall at the lovely Skyline Country Club in Tucson. They’re a cute, playful, romantic duo, and a pleasure to spend time with – what more could a wedding photographer ask for? Their engagement session in downtown Tucson last year was so much fun, I could barely wait for the big day itself.

Kim and her cheerfully rowdy bridesmaids got ready at the Arizona Inn, another of my favorite venues, and we had time for a few pics there before heading up to the club, where my longtime photo collaborator JP Connelly was busy photographing the equally comic guys.

Once there, we’d arranged for Kim and Dexter to see each other before the ceremony on the club’s famous spiral stairs. It made for a great moment and great photographs, and we had time to make some fun family portraits before guests started to arrive.

The ceremony itself was filled with laughter and happy tears (and a funny first date handshake-reenactment). There’s a lot of love for these two and it was a moving ceremony to say the least.

Stormy skies had us all a bit worried (and robbed us of an epic sunset), but the rain held off until well after everyone was safely inside and dancing the night away. Everyone had a fantastic time, and I stuck around to the end, running the photo booth and eating the fabulous cake and pastries they’re known for at Skyline!

Hats off to ace wedding planner Rackel Gehlsen, who put her heart into this one as much as any planner I’ve ever seen, and I sincerely believe fixed the weather that day by sheer willpower. Gorgeous flowers (as always) by the lovely Georgianne at Villa Feliz.

Here are some of my favorites from the reception slideshow – enjoy these while we sort and process the rest!

Justin and Kyndra’s Arizona Inn Wedding

Justin and Kyndra came to Tucson from Kansas City for an elegant destination wedding at the Arizona Inn this weekend. The weather was beautiful and the grounds on the Inn were in perfect riotous bloom. I knew it was going to be awesome from the start. They had a short, sweet ceremony by the fountain, followed by a cocktail hour and then a perfect evening of live music, great dancing and eloquent toasts.

Everyone had a wonderful time, myself included. With the help of ace co-photographer Jill Torrance, we made gorgeous photos in a relaxed fashion. Everyone was delightful to photograph, punctual, good-natured, well-dressed and well-mannered.  Our slideshow at the reception was a hit, and we felt like friends of the family by the end of the night. Thank you both!

There’s something magic about the Arizona Inn – it’s a hidden Tucson gem. The turn-of-the-century grounds are beautiful without being flashy, and a the staff is top-notch. There’s a pervasive sense of gravitas, calm and grace, without a whiff of the stuffy, fake or impersonal.  I suspect that’s why Justin and Kyndra found it such a good fit – and it’s precisely why Sarah and I picked it for our own wedding this fall. Many thanks to catering manager Diane Fausett there for making sure everything went off without a hitch. Ever-lovely Sauliz Flowers brought the gorgeous bouquets and centerpieces, and the Phoenix-based band The Connection kept the dance floor packed!
