Bring the “Blue Steel” – I’ve got the cover of the newest Tucson Bride & Groom Magazine!

Chris Richards Photography shot the cover of Tucson Bride & Groom Summer/Fall 2013

Ah, I’m no good at secrets, but I had to keep my mouth shut on this one for two whole months and it was driving me crazy!

Now that the latest issue of  Tucson Bride & Groom Magazine has “dropped,” I can crow about the cover, a sweet “collabo” between the great folks at the magazine, myself and some of Tucson’s finest wedding vendors.

A big thank you to Westward Look Resort for providing the stellar location, and to the ever-cheerful Ludwig and Paloma at Frostings Event Design Rentals for building such a dazzling setting from scratch. They’re wildly talented, seemingly tireless, and I’ve got my eye on them to re-imagine my client space sometime soon.

Huge thanks to Maya Palace, Trinity Diamonds, Men’s Wearhouse, Autumn and Kylyn of Spirit Salon & Day Spa and, of course, our models Sam and Adam of The Agency Arizona, for all being such pros, (and such fun). And thanks again to Fran and Liz at Tucson Bride & Groom for giving me a shot at the cover, my fourth in recent memory. You really bring out the best in me!

Congrats to Pete and Jennifer, featured in Tucson Bride & Groom Summer/Fall 2013.

Flip through the pages of this issue and I’ve got fun pics throughout, in the editorial pieces, and, flatteringly, in many of ads as well. There are even a couple of advertisers who used my photos prominently without photo credit, but so it goes. The lovely feature spread on Jennifer and Pete’s stunning soiree at the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa more than makes up for it.

Don’t miss the fabulous behind the scenes video that Stepheny Keith of Black Sheep Filmworks put together, available here: Tucson Bride & Groom-Summer/Fall 2013 Cover Shoot. Like a true thespian, I nailed my lines in a mere twenty takes, though I think I still sound a bit manic and muppet-ish.

Finally, I couldn’t resist sharing with you a few more photos from the Tucson Bride & Groom cover shoot.

The wild(life) wedding of Brandis and Brad at the Desert Museum

Occasionally a wild animal makes a cameo appearance at an outdoor wedding I’m covering, and it inevitably steals the show. Brad and Brandis had a parade of cool critters at their wedding, and the animals actually hung around long enough to pose for photos with them!

That’s a perk of having your wedding at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum it turns out. Their warm and loving ceremony was tucked in an intimate grotto on the museum grounds, and immediately following, docents brought out a pair of gorgeous owls and an adorable ringtail for everyone to ooh and ahh at.

Brad and Brandis met as freshmen at NAU and their friendship grew into a romance that culminated in Saturday’s intimate, laughter-filled ceremony. I’ve rarely met a couple as relaxed but excited about the day. Their love for each other is obvious from across the room, and their smiles as genuine as they get.

They’re proof that a Star Wars fan and a Star Trek fan can find common ground, even on May 4th, the unofficial Star Wars day. In a great touch by DJ Michael Lopez, the recessional wedding march segued smoothly into the Star Wars theme song, sending up a roar of laughter from everyone.

The weather was gorgeous, particularly in the shade of the museum grounds, and the warm night was perfect for socializing on one of the best patio decks you’ll find anywhere, with a pristine Tucson mountain backdrop. I’d like to give huge thanks to wedding planner Desiree Groseclose of Without A Hitch, who made sure everything came together perfectly. Donna Pack of Bella Fiore Custom Designs designed and made Brandis’ bouquet and the two large floral centerpieces – all were faux designs enabling Brandis and the Mom’s to have a keepsake of the special day. The gorgeous cake came from the ever-talented Village Bakehouse, who never fail to create something that tastes as good as it looks!

Congratulations you two, live long and prosper, and, of course, may the force be with you. Please enjoy these highlights from the reception slide show!
